My name is Joe Steele and I’m the Director of Workplace Technology at Railsr.

I’ve been working in IT/WPT for close to 20 years at places like Starling Bank, National Theatre, BBC, Sky, MOD, Premier League football clubs, top UK Universities and many more. I started my career at a local family-run fruit and veg shop before swapping Apples for Apple Macs in my first IT role at a secondary school. I then moved on to Trams Ltd where I progressed from a 2nd line engineer to technical consultant before moving to Starling Bank.

I spent nearly 4 years at Starling Bank as they grew from an 80-person start-up to a 2000+ strong household name bank. I led the transition to remote work through COVID as I spoke about in the JAMF keynote in 2021.

I moved to Railsr in 2022 and you can find out more about what we’ve achieved in my 2023 MacAD.UK talk.

My main areas of expertise lie in IAM, MDM, automation, and cost management. I’ve worked closely with Apple, Jamf, Okta, Cisco Meraki, Microsoft, and many more throughout my career.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my partner and young daughter, play piano and guitar, watch Arsenal (hopefully) win the league, and play computer games.
